LINEN WASH CARE
Be kind to your linen, and it will last you a very long time.
This is a simple care guide from LININ to help you maintain the beauty, comfort, and longevity of your linen garments.
Important for dark-coloured garments
As our garments are naturally dyed, darker shades may release excess colour during the initial washes. We strongly recommend dry cleaning only for the first few washes to avoid colour bleeding and preserve the richness of the dye.
Segregate similar colours
Always separate linen garments from heavily dyed or brightly coloured fabrics. Wash with similar colours to prevent colour transfer and preserve the original tone of your garment.
Cold hand wash or gentle machine wash
Linen is a natural, delicate fabric. Always wash in cold water using the gentle or delicate cycle if using a washing machine. Hot water and aggressive cycles can weaken the fibres over time.
Use mild detergent
Fully unfold the garment before washing and use a mild liquid detergent meant for delicate fabrics. Use less detergent than usual, and avoid overloading the wash.
Do not use fabric softeners — they coat and weaken natural fibres.
Do not bleach or use fabric softener
Bleach and fabric softeners can damage linen fibres and cause discolouration. Avoid both completely.
Do not tumble dry
Never put linen garments in a tumble dryer. High heat can shrink and damage the fabric. Instead, gently reshape the garment and air dry.
Line dry in shade
Dry linen garments in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Direct sunlight may cause fading, especially in deeper colours.
Warm iron or steam iron
Linen wrinkles naturally — it’s part of its character. Iron using a warm iron or steam iron on low to medium heat. For best results, iron while the garment is still slightly damp.
- For white and light-coloured garments: iron on both sides
- For darker shades: iron inside out to prevent colour fading
By following these care instructions, your LININ garments will age beautifully and stay with you for years.
